And answers we provide for them to all our customers
Q. Are Dobermans good with children?
A. –Yes! Doberman pinschers are considered people-oriented dogs that are affectionate and sweet with people, if socialized and trained properly. They are loyal to their owners and are good with children if raised with them; however, some Dobermans bond only to one person
Q. Do they shed?
A. –They have a medium hair coat. It should be smooth and lay flat. Dobermans are not heavy shedders, but they do shed. Shedding is easily controlled by using a de-shedding tool such as a furminator.
Q. Do Dobermans Need Vitamins?
A. – Just like any living thing, will benefit from having vitamin and mineral supplements, especially since with dogs you typically don’t change their food frequently. When any living thing intakes the same food on a consistent basis, deficiencies will develop, so a good multi-vitamin helps fill in the gaps in your doberman’s diet and health, just like a vitamin helps you and your children to get all you need. We recommend Nuvet Labs multivitamin.
Q. Are Dobermans great for colder climates?
A. –No, They can NOT tolerate extreme cold, and must be kept indoors. Again, this is due to their short noses…Their nasal passage is not long enough to warm cold air up as they breathe in, so they get very cold very quickly from breathing all the cold air.
Q. Will I need to wash my Doberman frequently?
A. –Dobermans should only be bathed once every 3-4 months, or when absolutely necessary. Dobermans are naturally hygienic, don’t typically smell, and with frequent wipe-downs can remain clean for long periods of time. Plus, over-bathing could lead to dry skin and a dull coat.
